LemmyNZ is funded through financial contributions from users. There is no obligation to donate, and you are free to use LemmyNZ without any payment nor any guilt for not paying. However, if you would like to contribute to the cost of running the server and you can do so without materially affecting your financial situation, then we welcome contributions.

Once per quarter we provide a financial update to show the running costs of the server and the donations received towards this. These are posted in the Meta/Support community.

Also, it’s only a “donation” in the loosest form of the word. It’s not a tax deductible donation as we aren’t registered as a charity or approved donee organisation. It is simply a contribution to the costs of running LemmyNZ.
