About ThreadiverseNZ
ThreadiverseNZ is a loose group of volunteers that are running the LemmyNZ and PieFedNZ discussion platforms. LemmyNZ is one of many connected websites running the Lemmy software, and PieFedNZ is one of many connected websites running the PieFed software. The ThreadiverseNZ team do not develop the website software, we only run one node of the network using the software developed by the respective development teams. There are many websites all connected together, for more information on this see About the Fediverse. You can register and see content from across the whole network.
ThreadiverseNZ is run by a team of volunteers in our spare time. The website is hosted in a datacentre in Auckland, NZ, and is paid for through member donations.

Our admin team is made up of the following volunteers:
Our server
Since September 2026 we have a dedicated server with Zappie Host, in an Auckland data centre.
The server has:
- 4 core/8 thread CPU
- 64GB RAM
- 2x1TB SSDs in RAID 1 configuration, giving approx 1TB usable space.
- 10TB/month bandwidth allocation, though this is far more than we need
Most images are proxied through the server, and are cached in object storage located in Amsterdam, Netherlands as Backblaze do not have a New Zealand or Australian data centre and local object storage is significantly more expensive.
LemmyNZ uses around 1TB of bandwidth per month. At the time of writing, PieFedNZ is brand new and future bandwidth usage is unknown.
